It’s Great to Be Back!

It’s Great to Be Back!

If you are new to WorkWell, welcome! If you have been with WorkWell in the past, as a participant, donor, partner, or simply someone who cheered on the program and this unique education experience in Iraq, welcome back!

Why WorkWell Now?

From 2017-2023, the WorkWell program trained 6,000 participants and helped 2,000 participants find jobs. And 98% of participants recommend us to others! We still hear from former participants who are thriving in jobs they love because of the training they received at WorkWell.

But the truth is, there is still a huge gap for young people in Kurdistan and Iraq, between preparing for the workforce and securing sustainable work.

“Hundreds of thousands of students graduate from universities and colleges in Iraq each year, joining the job market. However, the 2024 budget doesn’t have enough jobs for these graduates and others seeking work, with the private sector struggling to hire.

Unemployment is worse for women, who have twice the rate of men, and it’s higher in rural areas compared to cities, as highlighted by Ministry of Planning spokesperson Abdul Zahra Al-Hindawi.” –Shafaq News

“About 700,000 youth enter Iraq’s employment market every year, but finding good jobs is a challenge.

“The national youth unemployment rate is three times that of adults and worse for young women, who face extra challenges due to their gender,” she said.

“There’s still much more that training institutions and employers can do to ensure young people can reach their full potential and with our partners, we want to help them get there.” –CBC News

We support young people in Kurdistan and Iraq to dive into a world where technology education is the key to empowerment and growth.

Training for the Modern Workforce

WorkWell is innovative, collaborative, and forward-thinking. We foster an environment of continuous learning and growth.

  • We help people, on the edges of the workforce, build skills and confidence to secure their first entry-level job.
  • We help people early in their careers to up-skill, so they can move into better positions and open up jobs for newer workers.
  • We create safe, online learning spaces for young people across the country—from different backgrounds and different languages—to get to know each other, collaborate, and explore the digital world together.

WorkWell invites workers, volunteers, and companies to join our mission to create a more inclusive and tech-empowered future.
